Building works has begun on the repurposing of the Outer Metropolitan Multipurpose Correctional Centre (OMMPCC) with the first sods turned.
The repurposing of the Outer Metropolitan Multipurpose Correctional Centre will create almost 300 jobs during construction and around 100 jobs for the area once completed in 2020.
The repurposing of the OMMPCC includes upgrading the centre for better management of minimum and medium-security male inmates and rebuilding 250 beds.
AM Group company Lietzke Security has been contracted by head contractor Hansen Yuncken to supply and install the security windows and doors package on the project.
Lietzke Security is well underway with manufacture and delivery of product to site.
UK Group Company Industrial Door Engineering has recently completed a major improvement programme at Morrison’s Supermarkets Wakefield Distribution Centre.
The work involved the removal of badly damaged dock shelters and cladding from 12 loading bays.
This was followed by the repositioning of the existing dock levellers together with the installation of steel frameworks and dock bumpers. This work ensures that the delivery vehicles cannot damage the cladding in the future.
The final part of the contract involved fitting new cladding and dock shelters, and the re-positioning of the traffic light units.
The work had been scheduled for a six week block, but due to co-operation from the client and the allocation of additional manpower, the works were completed in three weeks, thus keeping site disruption to a minimum.
Morrison’s site surveyors are delighted with the work and will be considering similar works at their other warehouses at Wakefield.
Lang O’Rourke were contracted to build the new facilities for the pilot training school at RAAF East Sale. The $200 million development would include new hangars and maintenance workshops, classrooms and training facilities, flight simulators and live-in accommodation for 105 junior officers. From 2019, basic pilot training for all army, navy and air force pilots will take place at RAAF Base East Sale utilising this new facility.
Mirage Doors were contracted to supply and install 11 Series 100 x 1.2 steel roller shutters (pictured) for the maintenance hangers that were 12.1M wide x 5.2M high to meet high wind load requirements and tie in to advanced fire suppression systems. An additional 13 steel roller shutters were provided for storage areas and 8 Aluminium Series 1 roller shutters in the training facility. Mirage worked closely with LOR steel contractors to ensure adequate structural support for a successful project.
Managing Contractor Laing O’Rourke engaged Mirage Doors in 2017 to provide a range of Shutter & Door solutions on the $370 Million Battlefield Airlifter Project located at the Royal Australian Airforce Base- Amberley, Queensland.
The Project consists of upgrades & reconfigurations on base to accommodate the C-27J Spartan Battlefield Airlifter aircraft and Operational Facilities.
Spanning over two years Mirage Doors have manufactured & installed 58 Roller Shutters, Fire Shutters & Counterweight Bi-Fold Doors across six stages on the Project.
January 2019 brought about the completion of Austral Monsoon contribution to the construction of 6 high end industrial units at Matraville.
Austral Monsoon Vertical Sun Fins were installed to the sides of the buildings, protruding 180mm, to provide cosmetic detail to the building. The Aluminium Privacy screens were also part of the scope.
Screens were manufactured using 100 x 50 RHS battons attached to angle mounts. Designed to follow the corner of the building these screens give the building a distinct style and aesthetic appeal. Both Products were finished Dulux Duratec Zues Charcoal Satin with a 20 year Gold Global warranty.
Mentone Girls Grammar School new Aquatic Centre will open in January 2019 with students commencing swimming, diving and water polo in February. Stage 2 will see a new cutting-edge Aquatic Centre built with a 25m eight lane swimming pool with 1m and 3m diving boards, a training pool for early year swimmers, a multipurpose room, tiered seating, shower and change rooms that provide increased privacy and wheelchair platforms into both pools.
SJ Higgins Group was appointed as Head Contractor to deliver Stage 2 of Mentone Girls’ Grammar School Wellbeing Precinct and chose Group Company Airport Doors to manufacture two fold up doors that would specifically resist the aggressive environment of the pool enclosure. Airport Doors consulted with the Contractor and Architect and provided our expert knowledge to ensure that the fold up doors would meet the client’s expected design life under the demanding environment, and these specifications were factored into the fabrication of these custom doors.
Anvil Door have completed the manufacture and installation of a new bifold counter weight door to the Wanneroo Mazda dealership on behalf of Cooktown Construction .The new counterweight bifold door has been installed to the dealerships new vehicle delivery showroom.
The counterweight door is motorised and constructed from powder coated steel hollow sections. The client selected full glazed panels to match the existing showroom façade. The counterweight bifold door was designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Anvil Doors to the clients satisfaction.
Developer Lend Lease announced in November 2017 a $400 million redevelopment of Sunshine Plaza located in Maroochydore Queensland. The highly anticipated redevelopment would expand the retail centre from 73,000 square meters to over 107,000 square meters.
Lend Lease along with various shop-fitting companies engaged Mirage Doors to provide Roller Shutter & Folding Closure solutions for the following retailers throughout the precinct:
William Morrison’s Supermarket, one of the leading Supermarket chains in the UK required a major overhaul to the loading bay at their Stockport Store which involved the removal of some large heavy duty industrial gates and fencing and the fitting of a new electrically operated roller shutter door.
UK Group Company Industrial Door Engineering (IDE) are one of Morrison’s key supply chain contractors and were tasked with carrying out the necessary works.
Co-ordination with site was crucial as the operation of the store could not afford to be disrupted.
IDE technical representative Bernie Mikolawjewski co-ordinated all the works which involved the utilisation of a mobile crane to dismantle the old gates and steelwork, and the IDE site engineers who had to cut up the old gates to enable them to be removed from site, as well as the installation of the new electrically operated powder-coated roller shutter. The whole contract was completed over a 48 hour period and was performed to the satisfaction of Morrison’s senior surveyor Peter Monaghan who has praised the works that were carried out without disruption to the customer.
UK Group Company Industrial Door Engineering has recently completed the latest fire station upgrade for Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service.
This time, the site was an unmanned fire station in the village of Bollington.
The old folding shutters were causing operational difficulties and have now been replaced with two automatic overhead sectional doors that are fitted with safety beams and safety edges and they also incorporate a traffic light warning system.
The installation also included the supply and fitting of side and overhead cladding so that the complete elevation matches the doors.
Although the project was carried out over three days, IDE ensured that the site was secure at all times.
