AM Group company Austral Monsoon Building Products (AMBP) have recently been awarded a contract to supply and install both fixed & operable louvers for the $44 million Victoria University Project in Sunshine. The contractor on this project is Kane Construction, who Austral Monsoon Building Products are also supplying Aluminium Stormglaze Louvres too for the Latrobe University Rural Health School.
Victoria University is an interesting project with a mixture of Louver products to provide a natural ventilation solution for the innovative building. On the Ground floor level Easyflow operable louvers let air into ducts that transfers the air to upper levels. On the roof of the building there are six towers each with a combination of Koolbreeze louvers manufactured from opal polycarbonate and aluminium. Both variations offer superior natural ventilation whilst the Polycarbonate version has the added advantage of allowing natural light in. Also on the high level, under raised roofs there are Stormglaze operable louvers with performance glazing, along the North elevation there are a number full height Easyflow louvers with Easyflow access doors, the Easyflow and Stormglaze Operable louvers are all operated with electric actuators and operated in conjunction with the building management system to ensure maximum building comfort by controlled operation of the ventilation louvers.
The key design feature of this building is the environmental sustainability. The Cox Architect design will provide a first class learning centre that has been registered with the GBCA for a Green Star Education V1 Design Rating.
