IDE Completes Rapid Roll Door Project for Morrisons

July has seen the completion of a major door upgrade at the Morrison’s Distribution Centre in Northwich, Cheshire, UK by Group Company Industrial Door Engineering.

The project involved the installation of 16no. fast acting rapid roll doors at various locations throughout the site, including the Goods Inwards, Produce, and Recycling Departments.

The doors operate on a series of inductive loops that were installed by IDE using ‘no dust’ low noise specialist equipment that was necessary due to the food factory environment.

The doors will not only improve the efficiency of the distribution procedures on the site but will also form part of the physical barriers that prevent vermin and pest access into the buildings.

The answer was to dismantle the existing folding shutter, install supporting steelwork and fit a solid insulated panel wall on one half of the door opening, and supply and fit an electrically operated roller shutter door coupled with a fabric rapid roll door in the other half of the doorway.

This has provided Colas with a system that is efficient both from an operational point of view and also for heat cost savings benefits.
