This year’s NTEA Work Truck Show exhibit by Diamond Roll Up Door, Inc. has stirred up massive interest in putting roll up doors on America’s work trucks instead of the traditional swing-out doors currently used in this industry. Diamond has been pushing the idea for several years and may soon see the benefits of its efforts.
The focus this year was getting a complete basic utility body, with roll up doors, in front of the end users and not just the manufacturers. Working with an all aluminum utility body manufacture, Duramag (F3MFG), the two companies have put together an economical, all aluminum, and lite-weight utility body with roll up doors. Working together, the two companies have come up with a utility body that is lite weigh and safer and can be produced at a reasonable price.
The fire and emergency vehicle industry has seen and understands the need for lighter weight and safer vehicles. Nearly 80% of their vehicles produced today have the safer roll up doors. In the process they have determined that the manufacturing process is simpler and actually reduces overall cost. We believe there is going to be a shift to roll up doors in the Work Truck Industry and Diamond is striving to be the catalyst and leader in that endeavor.

The Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Program (the Program) is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) within the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. The 2015-2016 State budget allocated $2.4 billion for the removal of at least 20 level crossings by 2018. These sites form the basis of a long term strategic plan developed to remove all 50 level crossings in Metropolitan Melbourne by 2020.
As part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to remove 50 of the worst level crossings in Victoria, the congested and dangerous level crossing at North Road Ormond have been removed. The removal of the crossing and the construction of the new Ormond Station provides an opportunity for a mixed use development at a transport hub.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) replaced the Bundamba fire station with a new station, the architecturally designed building has a welcoming public entry and landscaped gardens to blend the station into the surrounding community.
Mirage Doors worked with the builders to provide six Mirage Steel S100 doors to the main service bays. The doors were slotted to allow airflow through the building and Powdercoated finish both sides.
The QFES specifications require interlocking with fire control so the shutters can be remotely opened ready for departure, auto closing once the tender has departed for security and sirens and flashing lights during travel. Australian made Grifco ML5103 motors and the doors made in Mirage Doors Queensland facility ticked all the boxes for Queensland local supply policy
