This year’s NTEA Work Truck Show exhibit by Diamond Roll Up Door, Inc. has stirred up massive interest in putting roll up doors on America’s work trucks instead of the traditional swing-out doors currently used in this industry. Diamond has been pushing the idea for several years and may soon see the benefits of its efforts.
The focus this year was getting a complete basic utility body, with roll up doors, in front of the end users and not just the manufacturers. Working with an all aluminum utility body manufacture, Duramag (F3MFG), the two companies have put together an economical, all aluminum, and lite-weight utility body with roll up doors. Working together, the two companies have come up with a utility body that is lite weigh and safer and can be produced at a reasonable price.
The fire and emergency vehicle industry has seen and understands the need for lighter weight and safer vehicles. Nearly 80% of their vehicles produced today have the safer roll up doors. In the process they have determined that the manufacturing process is simpler and actually reduces overall cost. We believe there is going to be a shift to roll up doors in the Work Truck Industry and Diamond is striving to be the catalyst and leader in that endeavor.

The Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Program (the Program) is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) within the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. The 2015-2016 State budget allocated $2.4 billion for the removal of at least 20 level crossings by 2018. These sites form the basis of a long term strategic plan developed to remove all 50 level crossings in Metropolitan Melbourne by 2020.
As part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to remove 50 of the worst level crossings in Victoria, the congested and dangerous level crossing at North Road Ormond have been removed. The removal of the crossing and the construction of the new Ormond Station provides an opportunity for a mixed use development at a transport hub.

Hutchinson Builders recently completed the Barwon Street complex which has been designed as upmarket industrial units
The project required a mixture of Fire Shutters, Industrial Steel Shutters and Bi-Fold Glazed Doors. The Bi-Fold doors were glazed in single sheet Laminated Glass tinted to match the rest of the building.
Mirage doors were the preferred suppliers since they were able to supply the three types of doors needed for the project. All S100 shutters and S3000 Bi-Folds were manufactured in the Carol Park plant and installation carried out by our team of installers.
The Mirage inhouse powder coating facilities allowed the doors to be prepared in factory and transported straight to site, wrapped for protection.
With the Commonwealth Games in 2018, the Gold Coast City Council has planned numerous entertainment events around the city. Various venues were updated including the Cultural Precinct. The project involved intensive landscaping, and new facilities including “The Stage”, a performing stage surrounded by grassed banks for seating.
Mirage Doors was approached by ADCO Constructions to provide the main stage door, our solution being a S3000 Bi-Fold door 14m wide x 6.8m high. Mirage provided the door as clear skin with ADCO cladding the door (artistically designed Diabond and tinted glass)
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) replaced the Bundamba fire station with a new station, the architecturally designed building has a welcoming public entry and landscaped gardens to blend the station into the surrounding community.
Mirage Doors worked with the builders to provide six Mirage Steel S100 doors to the main service bays. The doors were slotted to allow airflow through the building and Powdercoated finish both sides.
The QFES specifications require interlocking with fire control so the shutters can be remotely opened ready for departure, auto closing once the tender has departed for security and sirens and flashing lights during travel. Australian made Grifco ML5103 motors and the doors made in Mirage Doors Queensland facility ticked all the boxes for Queensland local supply policy
Mirage installation team handled the supply, install and commission.
IDE’s manufacturing engineers and team of fitters never give up on exceeding customer expectations. One of our regular valued customers; TATA Salt, had a busted door and it needed replacing. Our surveyors were quickly on the scene to ensure TATA salt could maintain their production line and prevent valuable materials from being ruined by the bad weather.
Within 24 hours we had surveyors go out to measure the door and a replacement door was manufactured straight from our factory. Disaster struck the following day with further flash floods in some parts of the UK. Our fitters were wading through rivers to get to the TATA site.
Following the battle with the river én route to TATA the damaged door was quickly replaced with a new electronically operated roller shutter door.
As a result, TATA could get back to their busy schedule.
UK Group company Nassau Industrial Doors have just completed the supply and installation of 81no Overhead sectional doors of which 9 were electrically operated with traffic light systems. The project also included the installation of dock shelters, and is yet another example of the close collaboration between UPS and Nassau.
The project began in December and all installation phases were quick and efficient enabling UPS to begin using the doors as soon as they were installed.
The contract was won by Nassau’s own Terry Salmon and Nigel Forster who assisted in the design, price and operation of the doors so that the new installation increases the warehouse’s efficiency. Nassau have not only provided the doors on a number of UPS sites, but also provide a nationwide 24 hours emergency service for all UPS distribution centres.
February 2018 saw the re-branding of UK Group Company Dover Vanguard.
The business will now operate under the title Dover Roller Shutters, a name that has been in existence since 1954 and which is synonymous and renowned for quality and service.
This re-brand also coincides with the introduction of two new products that Dover Roller Shutters are rolling out into the UK market.
The WL190 wide lath door has already found success within the US market via AMGroup Company Diamond Roll-Up Door Inc. The product is used widely on vehicle trailers and its steel construction provides a robust hard-wearing durable product that is becoming increasingly popular.
The CP380 Evolution door is a 100% recyclable steel composite panel sectional door, again mainly used in the truck and trailer industry. Expectations are that this product will gradually replace the timber sectional doors commonly used in the UK trailer market, and orders are already arriving even though the manufacturing of the product will only start next month. Dover Roller Shutters is investing in a comprehensive range of new machinery to update the existing manufacturing plant, which includes state of the art CNC machinery, mandrel track bending machines, spot welding equipment and a new 6 metre guillotine.
Austral Monsoon has recently completed the supply and installation of 32 no. electrically operated steel roller shutters at the new purpose built Clarence Valley Council Depot and Administration Buildings at South Grafton.
Working with Hutchinson Builders, the project involved using our 76mm & 100mm steel roller shutters and included a 2 hour fire shutter, across 4 workshops and maintenance buildings.
