The building work at Industrial Door Engineering in Northwich, U.K. is starting to advance now.
Following last year’s investment in a new powder-coating plant and upgraded gas supply, this year sees a factory extension of 7,000 sq. ft, an office expansion of 800sq.ft and a major upgrade of the electricity supply that feeds the I.D.E. building.
This latest phase of work commenced in June and is scheduled to be completed during September.
The new Reception Area and Factory Mess Room have already been finished.
July marks the beginning of the new financial year, a time to reset the financial clocks and set off again with new optimism. It’s also a time of reflection for group company Airport Doors, where this time 12 months ago the company was on the brink of extinction after more than 50 years of manufacturing in Australia.
Looking back 12 months ago, under the management of the previous owners the Airport Doors business was in dire financial troubles and subsequently went into administration in August 2016. This period marked a very uncertain time for both the owners and staff of Airport Doors. The sentiment in the market place was that the Airport Doors brand would quietly disappear just like so many other local manufacturers had in this competitive economic environment.
In late August 2016, the AM Group acquired key assets of the Airport Doors business, thus providing the brand with an opportunity to re-invent itself in the marketplace. It was well reported at the time that the Directors of the AM Group saw great strategic benefits with the acquisition of Airport Doors. Airport doors offered access to distribution channels and markets that had not been traditional areas of business for the Austral Monsoon, Ansa Doors and Mirage Doors businesses. Airport Doors also provided a range of new products for the AM Group.
The Airport Doors name has been well regarded in the industry over a long period of time and in the last 12 months the AM Group has done what it takes to rebuild its presence throughout Australia. The business has been able to deliver monthly sales growth for the group and is now importantly in a financially stable position. Just as significant, the customer sentiment in the marketplace has drastically improved and Airport Doors has now (or is in the process of) successfully completing a number of major projects working with some of the largest construction companies in Australia. These projects have included:
• Multiplex Construction_Lighthouse Tower Apartments_Melbourne Vic
• Lendlease_Cambell Barracks Defence Re-development_Perth WA
• H-Troon Construction_Mazda Dealership_South Morang Vic
• Lendlease_Melbourne Airport Terminal 2 Refurbishment_Melbourne Vic
• BGC Construction_Bunbury Fire Station_Bunbury WA
• George Rydell Constructon_Arthurs Seat Redevelopement_Dromana Vic
The transition of Airport Doors has been remarkable and is a testament to the strategic management provided by the AM Group.
For the CMV Truck & Bus business, June 2016 marked the beginning ceremony for the start of a 13 month construction and relocation process on a new 80,000m2 site located on the corner of Boundary and Mt Derrimut Roads, Derrimut Victoria.
Fast forward to July 2017 and the project is looking more like a dealership than a construction site these days. Externally, there are a few sections of concrete, landscaping and signage to be completed. Interior fit out is close to completion in the workshop, parts, showroom and office/administration areas.
Construction group Qanstruct were engaged by CMV to build and deliver this new facility in Derrimut. In turn, the construction company chose to partner with Ansa Doors to supply and install over 120x industrial roller shutters for the workshop, parts and showroom area. The heavy duty H13 roller shutters provide high levels of reliability, security and functionality for the building.
Ansa Doors also supplied 4x large and bespoke AB100 series motorised Bifold doors for the main showroom area. The glazed doors blend nicely in with the surrounding building façade and convey the architectural aspect the building designers were looking for.
Austral Monsoon Building Products recently completed the $16.5 million Belmont Shooting Complex upgrade, the shooting complex will host the Clay Target, Full Bore and other shooting events for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Austral Monsoon Building Products working with the head contractor Broad Constructions Queensland provided “Koolbreeze” fixed ventilation louvers to various buildings throughout the facility, The “Koolbreeze” ventilation louvers where manufactured from both powder coated aluminium and Opal Polycarbonate, depending on the location, the “Koolbreeze” Opal polycarbonate louvers are selected where ventilation and diffused light is required.
Mirage Doors were approached to install two glazed Bifolding doors to the existing glass building.
These are 4 meter x 4 meter S3000 motorised Bifold doors to provide access to move cars in and out of the main showroom. Special attention was needed to provide glass to match the 15 year old custom E-glass of the building. We achieved this with viridian E-comfort 10.38mm glass.
K Mart has been undergoing a refurbishment of their store throughout Australia over the past three years. It has been proven by K Mart that a contemporary shopfront presentation directly correlates to high customer volumes and sales.
In Queensland, Mirage Doors has forged a positive relation with Samways Building & Construction to help K Mart achieve their objectives.
The most recent upgrade completion was in Mackay in North Queensland, where a single Series 3 roller shutter was used to span two opening bays. This replaced 30 year old counterweight doors. Wideview ventilation slots were added to optimise air flow capabilities. All work was completed after hours in one night, without disruption to existing trade.
The Mackay project was the 26th fitout between Samways and Mirage Doors Qld. in the past three years.
