The AMgroup's entry into the North American market was through the acquisition in 1997 of the Diamond Roll-Up Door (DRUD) business located in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, USA.

At the time DRUD manufactured timber sectional overhead truck doors. The AMgroup was able to provide the business with access to a large range of aluminum truck roll up door products used heavily in the fire engine, emergency vehicle, ambulance and maintenance vehicle market.

The original DRUD factory has been extended 3 times since 1996 and another 40,000 sq. ft. building was purchased across the road in 2001 to accommodate growth. In FY 2006 over US$1.0 million was spend on capital equipment to improve production capacity and quality. Revenues in this business have increased 5 fold since acquisition.

The development of the Diamond Evolution composite door for trucks and trailers was revolutionary for the market. DRUD has continued to develop new and unique products for the transport industry.

DRUD has also benefited from the acquisition of the Dover Roller Shutter business in the UK as a significant volume of Dover's product was exported to the USA.

The AMgroup has also provided DRUD the intellectual property to provide niche proprietary roll up door products for the commercial and industrial building markets in the US.

US sales revenues constitute approximately 15% of the total group.
