About Our European Operations

Our initial investment in Europe was through the acquisition in 2004 of the Dover Roller Shutter business that was based in Denton, Manchester.

Founded in 1957 Dover Roller Shutters was the original worldwide developer and manufacturer of aluminium roller shutter products for use on fire engine trucks. Dover Roller Shutters also developed other aluminium roller shutter products for vans and other special vehicles. Their products were sold all over the world.

In 2006 the AMgroup acquired the Vanguard Roller Shutters business being a manufacturer of aluminium roller shutters for vans and truck bodies as well has having a range of roller shutters for commercial and industrial buildings. Both companies were combined to form Dover Vanguard Roller Shutters and were jointly housed in the Vanguard premises in Oldham, Manchester. The building was extended in 2007.

Subsequent acquisitions of Force1 Shutters (2007) and AGD Shutters (2008) provided additional products and services particularly 24 hr / 7 day service of commercial and industrial door products.

The acquisition of the Industrial Door Engineering (IDE) business in 2009 significantly increased our investment in the UK. Located in Northwich, Cheshire the IDE business manufactures, installs and services a wide range of commercial and industrial door products throughout the UK and distributes to the trade.

European sales revenues constitute approximately 25% of the total group.
